Senior Project Manager (Port Expansion – Maritime Infrastructure Construction in US)

Protecnium is an international firm specializing in engineering and construction services ( We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager with a strong background in maritime infrastructure construction to lead a port expansion project in Miami.

Location : Miami, Florida, United States (On-site)

Duration : 24+ months. Upon project completion, efforts will be made to reassign team members to other projects for continuity.

Main Mission

The Senior Project Manager will be responsible for leading the execution of the port expansion construction project , ensuring that all phases are completed within the established timeline, budget, and regulatory framework. The role requires direct oversight of on-site construction activities, including contractor coordination, quality control, risk management, and compliance with safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Leadership : Define project scope, goals, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders. Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets. Oversee all project phases, including design, procurement, construction, and handover.
  • Team Management : Lead and mentor multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, architects, contractors, and support staff. Assign responsibilities and monitor team performance to ensure alignment with project goals.
  • Stakeholder Coordination : Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulatory bodies, and third parties. Facilitate regular progress meetings and maintain transparent communication with stakeholders.
  • Budget and Resource Management : Prepare and monitor project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency. Allocate resources effectively to meet project objectives.
  • Risk and Quality Control : Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks. Implement quality assurance measures to ensure compliance with standards and regulations.
  • Compliance and Documentation : Ensure that all activities comply with legal, safety, and environmental standards. Maintain comprehensive documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Reporting : Provide regular progress reports to senior management and stakeholders. Deliver post-project reviews to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience managing large-scale construction projects in the maritime or heavy civil engineering sector.
  • Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven experience in construction companies, managing direct execution of infrastructure projects. Experience in consulting firms does not qualify.
  • Proficiency in English (C1); Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder management skills.
