A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Execution System (MES) Specialist for a client in Madrid, Spain. This role involves taking ownership of MES life cycle management, ensuring system standardization, and coaching vendors under challenging conditions. The ideal candidate should have deep expertise with MES and traditional manufacturing solutions, along with strong change management capabilities and emotional intelligence. Willingness to travel is required for this position.

We are looking for our client an resilient MES / MOM (Manufacturing Operations Management) expert to join Global Business Services (GBS) in Barcelona. Your mission is to standardize our core production monitoring systems and connect them seamlessly with our Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP - SAP) ecosystem.
This role requires a deep technical architect and vendor coach, someone who was already part of MES implementation and standardization in complex manufacturing environments.
You will be the key operational driver ensuring our MES solutions deliver tangible value and meet global standards :
Take full hands‑on ownership of the lifecycle for traditional MES systems that monitor production lines.
This is a crucial element. You must possess the seniority and technical authority to manage, challenge, and coach MES vendors to meet stringent IT industry best practices and quality standards. You will be their technical mentor, not just their project manager.
Deep experience ensuring robust, reliable, and standardized connectivity between MES / MOM systems and large-scale ERP platforms (ideally SAP S / 4HANA / ECC).
You must be prepared for major pushback from local plants regarding system standardization. Your ability to drive standardization against resistance is paramount.
Deep experience and expertise with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and traditional manufacturing solutions.
Understanding of plant infrastructure and security aspects in manufacturing IT.
Proven ability to manage and coach external vendors.
Strong Change Management capabilities and high Emotional Intelligence.
The energy and persistence required to drive changes despite significant pushback.
Willingness to travel (e.g., to Belgium, China, or the US).
