Job Description
The Role
The General Manager reports directly to the European Director of Store Operations. The role focuses on executing the business formula, driving organizational growth, and fostering company culture.
The General Manager is fully responsible for P&L, expansion, and store operations. They will collaborate closely with Area Managers and central departments such as Real Estate, Operations, Logistics, Buying, and HR.
Responsibilities:
- Operational Management
- Ensure correct implementation of the business formula, policies, and methods.
- Collaborate with Area Managers and central departments.
- Maintain high standards in store operations, including stock, cleanliness, and process adherence.
- Oversee the opening of new stores without compromising quality.
- Achieve sales targets and operational excellence.
- Ensure leadership aligns with company values and competencies.
- Manage HR functions such as recruitment, training, coaching, and absence management.
- Strategy and Policy
- Contribute to sales formula and policy development from local and national perspectives.
- Monitor competition and recommend strategic actions.
- People Management
- Lead the team towards organizational growth and proactively address future challenges.
- Provide constructive feedback and support employee development.
- Encourage employee participation in idea generation and learning.
- Create a stimulating work environment for continuous development.
- Mentor and coach employees to enhance their skills and competencies.
- Manage staffing, recruitment, and retention within the department.
- Set an example through clear and effective communication.
- Results Orientation
- Develop annual plans and monitor operational KPIs such as turnover and wages.
- Analyze results at shop, regional, and country levels to inform decisions.
Candidate Profile
- University degree in Business Management or related field.
- 5-10 years of leadership experience with P&L responsibility at a national level.
- Experience as a Sales Manager/Director in retail discount sector.
- Proven expertise in establishing and managing structured, growing organizations in similar fields.
