Commercial Finance Director - Europe

Position summary

The Director of Commercial Finance is a key strategic partner to the Commercial and Operations teams, responsible for driving financial performance, pricing governance, and business case evaluation across the European region. This role is critical in aligning financial strategy with the unique operational and commercial demands of logistics and warehousing, ensuring financial discipline while enabling sustainable growth and long-term customer partnerships.

Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnering

  • Partner with Commercial, Operations, and Senior Leadership to drive revenue growth and margin improvement.
  • Provide financial insight into pricing, contract negotiation, customer profitability, and investment decisions.

Pricing & Revenue Management

  • Lead pricing strategy, tools, and governance across the region.
  • Analyze customer and product-level profitability and recommend pricing actions or portfolio adjustments.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Support the development of revenue forecasts, budgets, and long-range plans.
  • Support month-end close with commercial performance reporting, variance analysis, and insights.

Commercial Deal Support

  • Evaluate and challenge customer proposals, RFPs, and new business opportunities through detailed financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Ensure alignment of commercial terms with financial goals and risk management policies.
  • Lead and have full control over all investment memorandum documents

Performance Monitoring

  • Track and report key commercial KPIs, including revenue growth, yield management, churn, and pipeline performance.
  • Establish and maintain dashboards for executive-level reporting.

Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with Business Development, Operations, Legal, and IT to ensure seamless execution of commercial initiatives.
  • Drive continuous improvement in pricing processes, tools, and policies.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA / CIMA preferred).
  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience in Commercial Finance, with at least 5 years in a logistics and warehousing environment. This industry experience is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally and influence without authority.
  • Strong analytical, modelling, and data visualization skills.
  • Deep understanding of pricing, customer profitability, and financial planning.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP), BI tools (Power BI, Tableau), and advanced Excel modelling.
