Offer Description

The Vall d´Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO) Seeks a Laboratory Technician at Tumor Biomarkers Team

Reference: 2025-041-01

Number of vacancies: 1

We seek a Laboratory Technician to join the Tumor Biomarkers Team, led by Josep Villanueva, in the Proteomics Group of VHIO. The main goal of the laboratory is to characterize the mechanisms adopted by cancer cells to communicate amongst themselves as well as with their microenvironment during tumorigenesis and exploit these data to advance biomarker and drug target discovery.

We are seeking an organized, motivated and team-oriented individual. The successful candidate will join the scientific team supporting the development of new small-molecule drugs for triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) therapy. The project involves a comprehensive workflow that integrates in silico, in vitro, and in vivo studies, with the ultimate goal of advancing promising candidates toward clinical application.

  • Perform and optimize cell-based concentration response assays in breast cancer cell lines.
  • Collaborate with computational scientists and perform experimental validation of candidate compounds identified through high-throughput virtual screenings.

Requirements:

  • Applicants must have a BSc.
  • At least two years of experience in molecular and cellular biology techniques performed in a research laboratory.
  • Experience in cell culture techniques, Western Blot and Immunofluorescence microscopy is required.
  • Experience in small molecule drug screening and assay development will be favorably considered.
  • Experience in animal experimentation will be favorably considered.
  • The candidate is expected to be able to communicate well in English.
