Position: Freelance / Contract

The Hired Guns are seeking a passionate User Experience Researcher to support the core UX team at a highly sought-after global technology company. This full-time freelance role begins remotely and will transition to onsite work in NYC, Austin, the Bay Area, Seattle, or Munich, Germany, post-COVID.

The Role

This organization, a leader in UX and research, is building a new UX Research team focused on collecting user feedback for new applications and features. As a User Experience Researcher, you will collaborate with designers and engineers to develop internal-facing applications for over 200,000 employees, with some projects potentially becoming globally-used external applications.

Responsibilities

1. Conduct rapid and foundational user research, balancing multiple projects simultaneously.
2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including designers, product managers, and engineers.
3. Provide clear research insights and present findings to stakeholders with varying levels of research knowledge.
4. Ensure accessibility and incorporate DEI principles into research practices.
5. Moderate and design end-to-end research studies.

Qualifications

1. At least one year of usability study experience at a large tech company.
2. Strong knowledge of accessibility, heuristics, prototype evaluation, and assumption mapping.
3. Experience managing projects within an agile environment and reporting to diverse stakeholders.
4. Excellent presentation skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
5. Background or interest in anthropology, human-centered design, psychology, cognition, or sociology is a plus.
6. Deep commitment to DEI and accessibility in research practices.
