As a (Senior) Operations Manager - BESS & Trading, you will be part of our fast-moving Operations team - a group of hands-on professionals who ensure our platform performs in the real world. We currently manage a small but rapidly growing number of BESS assets, and plan to scale to dozens across Europe by 2026.
What you will do:
Own the BESS asset lifecycle; ensure smooth go-lives, stable performance, and full regulatory compliance
Monitor performance in real-time; keep a close eye on real-time asset performance and take swift action when issues arise. This also includes participation in regular on-call rotations—always supported by an experienced software development counterpart
Solve problems fast and cross-functionally; lead structured root cause analyses with internal teams and work with partners to resolve issues quickly
Improve what’s not yet optimal; spot recurring problems, suggest fixes, and optimize system setups and data workflows
Build and maintain clear, actionable documentation; ensure scalability, consistency, and audit readiness through actionable playbooks and operations documentation
Work closely with ops, product, and tech to shape the future of our systems; help shape our trading and operations platform by ensuring the right tools and processes are in place as we scale
This Role Gives You Impact and Opportunity
You’ll have a real-world impact; every improvement you implement helps us run better, serve clients better, and decarbonize faster
You’ll help build, not just operate; we’re scaling fast—you’ll shape new standards, not inherit outdated ones
You’ll grow with us; this role gives you deep visibility across tech, product, and operations—opening doors to further grow into expert or leadership functions as we scale
We’re looking for someone who is deeply proactive and accountable — someone who doesn’t just identify problems but owns them, and is energized by bringing clarity and progress to complexity.
Mandatory Requirements
A degree or equivalent in Engineering, Energy Systems, Physics, or a related field
3+ years in (energy/trading) operations, technical customer support or solutions engineering
Hands-on experience using dashboards and monitoring tools to track asset performance and identify anomalies in real time
Proven ability to drive outcomes through close collaboration with engineering and product teams
Solid understanding of–or strong willingness to quickly learn–energy asset behavior, grid regulations, and energy trading mechanisms
Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive, ownership-driven mindset
Business proficiency (C1+) in English and German
Skills to Set You Apart
Experience managing external technical partners (e.g., TSOs, OEMs, service providers)
Operational compliance know-how in the energy or critical infrastructure sector (e.g. REMIT, KRITIS/NIS2)
Experience working with or implementing structured customer support/ticketing and/or incident management systems (e.g., Jira Service Management, Zendesk, Pager Duty, etc.)
Ability to understand and work with basic code (e.g., Python, SQL) to support debugging, automation, or configuration tasks
This role may not be a fit for you if…
You prefer routine over dynamic work environments
You avoid cross-team work or don’t enjoy managing operational ambiguity
You shy away from technical topics and hands-on systems work
