Job description

Seismic & Dynamics Engineer

Number of Openings: 1
Location: Remote
Duration: 18-month max; 6 months (40 hours per week not guaranteed)
Shift: 5 days 8 hours
Expected Start Date: 12/31/25

Role Summary / Purpose

This position will evaluate the reactor enclosure system (RES) response to various design and operational changes. The RES components are typically modeled in ANSYS with time-based inputs to predict the response of the system. All work complies with GE’s quality plan which includes specific verification practices.

Essential Responsibilities
  • Perform linear and non-linear dynamic structural evaluation to predict system responses and resulting loads (and other similar analyses) for reactor systems and internals components to meet structural stress and fatigue criteria. Demonstrated understanding of the dynamic response of structures
  • Creation and evaluation of analysis models using ANSYS Workbench and APDL (Translate design information into finite element models)
  • Stress qualification to ASME Codes and Standards (Div 1 and Div 5)
  • Develop creative solutions and reduce analysis complexity to create accurate and effective solutions for complex engineering problems.
  • Apply engineering fundamentals and 1st order engineering principles to establish and/or confirm expected performance.
  • Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Liaise with customers, in partnership with engineering leadership and Project Management.
  • Interface with cross-functional teams and departments necessary to complete assigned system design activities.
  • Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineerin BP-19-01-F09 procedures. Analysis results are typically provided in an engineering report for use by external customers.
  • Review archive records and evaluate the impact of design/operational changes on th conclusions within those archive records.
  • Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline and budgeted hours. Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities. Identify and manage project execution risk.
Qualifications / Requirements

  • Project based work assignments with time and schedule constraints for work performed.
  • Engineer needs to be efficient and effective in assignments to meet scope, quality, schedule and cost bases.
  • Master’s Degree or greater in an engineering discipline from an accredited college or University.
  • Nuclear Industry knowledge / experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and utilize inventor to determine component dimensions, detailed features, interfaces, masses, stiffnesses, etc.
