Responsibilities
- Assist the NGA CTTA in executing the NGA TEMPEST program, analyzing requirements, implementing programs and processes for controlling or mitigating compromising emanations from NGA equipment and facilities. Interpret security policy and regulations governing TEMPEST as they apply to NGA facilities, systems and equipment.
- Provide advice and assistance to NGA customers to ensure the collection of information required to facilitate the TEMPEST mission, including: building/floor drawings or schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment specifications, shielding, power systems, signal data and power line routing, HVAC ductwork, and other utility wiring or piping.
- Assist NGA customers in completing online automated workflow process requests (TEMPEST support requests), TEMPEST checklists, Protective Distribution System (PDS) requests, and TEMPEST Countermeasure Review requests.
- Accomplish VTIs and TEMPEST testing of NGA facilities, systems, and equipment, to include SCIFs and PDS as required by the NGA CTTA.
- Represent the NGA CTTA in meetings or briefs relating to NGA facilities, systems, and equipment that process classified information and provide the NGA CTTA with details necessary to properly assess the scope as related to TEMPEST.
- Support TEMPEST daily operations, including:
- Maintaining and ensuring accuracy of the NGA TEMPEST Automated Workflow.
- Ensuring completion of all TEMPEST reports, checklists, PDS requests, and TEMPEST Countermeasure Reviews within established timeframes.
- Ensuring adherence to National, DoD, and Agency regulations and instructions as they relate to TEMPEST.
- Ensuring TEMPEST technical reviews, inspections and assessments are accomplished within established timeframes.
- Gather all necessary information required for the NGA TEMPEST Automated Workflow Process, TEMPEST checklist, PDS request, and TEMPEST Countermeasure Reviews.
- Conduct all VTI, TEMPEST technical reviews, inspections, and assessments as required by the NGA.
- Maintain TEMPEST qualifications as required by National, DoD, and Agency standards.
- Maintain TEMPEST test equipment and coordinate repairs and calibrations as needed.
- Coordinate with other components of NGA and partners to ensure TEMPEST requirements and countermeasures are in adherence.
- Recommend and provide TEMPEST guidance for agency security. Responsibilities include:
- Provide recommendations and guidance for new processes.
- Assist in determining best practices related to wireless.
- Ensure wireless technicians understand and comply with National TEMPEST regulations.
- Ensure that TEMPEST reviews are conducted in accordance with National policy and DoD regulations.
- Coordinate TEMPEST Countermeasure Reviews and VTI for NGA facilities.
- Evaluate and make recommendations to the NGA CTTA on countermeasures consistent with National policy and operational requirements.
- Prepare estimates for the NGA CTTA on proper implementation of TEMPEST countermeasures and mitigations in support of the TEMPEST mission.
- Maintain appropriate records including technical review, inspection and evaluation reports, VTI reports, TEMPEST checklists, and update records in the TEMPEST automated Workflow Process.
- Conduct inspections and perform site assistance visits as required by the NGA CTTA.
- U) Possess awareness of National policies and DoD policies regarding TEMPEST (e.g. National Security Telecommunications & Information System – policy and instruction, etc.).
- Assist implementation of the TSSC Technician OJT program, preparing technicians for success through training and hands‑on experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must possess a current and active DoD TS or DOE Q clearance.
- At least 7 years experience in TEMPEST, Physical or Technical Security, or Facility Inspection related fields.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATION
- Possess the National TEMPEST School certifications for completion of TEMPEST Fundamentals and TEMPEST for System Installation and Facility Design courses.
- Possess experience with facility accreditation inspections, shielding, grounding, and Protected Distribution Systems.
- Possess a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Be a credentialed graduate of an accredited federal or DoD CI training academy (e.g., FBI Academy).
- Possess advanced TEMPEST training.
Location: This is a full‑time onsite position in Springfield, VA or St. Louis, MO, USA.
