We are hiring for six positions at SĆIȺNEW SṮEȽIṮḴEȽ Elementary School . The role involves thirty hours per week supporting students in various classrooms, including those with autism, behavioral needs, and learning assistance.

Candidates Must

• Follow directions from teachers, inclusive education specialists, and supervisors
• Work as part of a team and follow student programs as outlined in IEPs
• Implement adapted or modified curricula and life skills programs
• Prepare visual supports and communication systems, including augmentative and alternative communication
• Understand developmental milestones in language acquisition
• Physically support students as needed, including daily living skills and exercise programs
• Show initiative, judgment, and ability to collect data
• Work effectively with students demonstrating challenging behaviors
• Support social skills development and student independence
• Hold a recognized Teaching Assistant Certificate or equivalent

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation or equivalent
• Education Assistant Certification or related experience working with individuals with disabilities
• Minimum three months of experience working with children
• Knowledge of child development and familiarity with IEPs
• Basic computer skills
• Physical ability to support student needs

Responsibilities

• Participate in planning and implementing IEP goals
• Supervise students during various activities and transitions
• Assist students in classroom activities and social inclusion

• Attend to minor injuries and assist with transfers as needed
• Remain current with policies and guidelines

Rate of pay is as per the CUPE collective agreement. Duties commence on September 2, 2025.
