Team Member Qualifications

Communication skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to individuals, public groups, and students and their parents. Capable of giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate.

Mathematical skills: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to develop and interpret statistical reports that will be required for reporting of school results.

Reasoning ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer skills: Knowledge of database, spreadsheet, word processing software at a minimum. Familiarity with the Google ecosystem is a plus. Fluency in professional communication via email, social media, etc.

Youth working skills: Ability to communicate effectively with young people, apply the developmental needs of adolescents to student instruction, and show appreciation for the unique life experiences of each student. Enjoy working with high school youth.

Lifelong learning skills: Ability to explore personal passions and interests, draw upon the inquiry process to further understandings, and model living as a lifelong learner.

Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities

  • Baccalaureate degree is required.
  • Master's degree (MA/MS/MBA) or equivalent preferred. Two or more years related experience and/or training a plus.
  • Preferred candidates will hold or are in the process of earning a valid Arkansas Teaching License (or the equivalent) in one or more of the following areas: a general education content area, special education instructional specialist P-4 or 4-12, GT, and ESL.
  • Planning, organizing, and presenting activities contributing to educational, social, and physical development of students to enhance their self-worth and equip them with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to function in society.
  • Instructors will exercise considerable judgment, tact, patience, sensitivity, and flexibility to successfully educate students from varied socioeconomic backgrounds and learning styles.
  • Able to plan and facilitate engaging instruction via a project-based learning model, thoroughly incorporate technology into educational plans, work effectively with colleagues and meet all professional responsibilities as an educator, complying with all state and federal regulations regarding the education of students with diverse learning needs.
  • Additionally, instructors in the advisor role will be responsible for the academic and internship success of their advisees and will be the first point of contact for family outreach, home visits, work site visits, and communication and follow-up with industry mentors at the student's’ internship site
