Job summary
A leading retail pharmacy is seeking a Relief Pharmacist to assist in pharmacy operations, ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with regulations. Responsibilities include filling prescriptions, counseling patients, and collaborating with healthcare providers. The ideal candidate must have a valid Pharmacist License and strong pharmaceutical knowledge. This position offers a competitive pay rate ranging from $48.00 to $64.50 per hour based on relevant experience.
Qualifications
- Must be 16 years of age or older.
- Possess a valid Pharmacist License.
- Ability to ensure patient privacy and comply with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in operations.
- Fill prescriptions accurately and counsel patients.
- Ensure compliance with provincial regulations.
- Travel to various locations as required.
Skills
Education
The Relief Pharmacist assists the Pharmacy Manager and the Staff Pharmacist in all aspects of Pharmacy Operations.
Ensure excellent customer experience and locate merchandise on the sales floor.
Develop strong working relationships with Professional Services District Managers and other stakeholders.
Accept prescriptions and/or refill requests from customers, doctors, or hospitals.
Fill all prescriptions accurately, efficiently, and safely using the established workflow models, and counsel patients on all sold pharmaceutical products.
Ensure proper storage of pharmaceutical products.
Execute processes as per OBWs/SOPs.
Operate all pharmacy equipment, including register and computer system.
Protect and maintain patient privacy at all times and follow provincial regulations established by the regulatory body.
Ensure patients receive all eligible services they are entitled to (medication reviews, injections, etc.) to meet specific patient needs.
Follow OBW regulations as per the Relief Pharmacist program. Travel to various locations and follow schedules set by the Relief program coordinator.
Develop and establish collaborative relationships with other health care providers within the store (clinics, Vision Centre, community, etc.).
The pay range is $48.00 – $64.50/hr. Rate of pay will be determined based on relevant experience.

- License – Pharmacist License (secondary optional permit in Alberta: CA_APA – Additional Prescribing Authorization)
