Reporting to the Supervisor, Provincial Data Quality and Clinical Documentation Integrity, the Submission & Technical Specialist (STS) is a key role in Health Information Management (HIM) that requires a unique and specialized skill set to provide technical leadership and Data Collection subject matter expertise. This position is responsible for Data Submissions to Morbidity and Ambulatory Care Abstract Reporting (MACAR), including Discharge Abstract Data Base (DAD) and National Ambulatory Care Reporting System (NACRS), as well as deletion, addition, and correction files. The role also involves monitoring month-end processes for data quality edits and ensuring errors and edits in the Provincial Coding and Abstracting System (PCAS) and MACAR are addressed through report creation, maintenance, and reconciliation. Additionally, the incumbent tests all new releases impacting PCAS and collaborates with Provincial Data Collection Advisors, Zone Data Collection Managers, and Health Information Management Professionals to improve clinical documentation and data workflow efficiencies within Connect Care and PCAS, ensuring adherence to national and provincial data collection principles. This position is eligible to work anywhere in the province. Applicants must pass a provincial coding proficiency test and a pre-hire skills assessment with a minimum score of 70% before advancing to the interview.
As a Health Information Management Professional (HIMP) II, you will lead the development, implementation, and reporting of health information services. You will coordinate daily operations and train new staff, providing operational guidance to ensure clinical information is timely, accurate, and valid.
