Chair, Board of Directors - WCB Nova Scotia (Filled)

Royer Thompson Management & Human Resources Consulting
Halifax
CAD 125.000 - 150.000
Descripción del empleo

The Workers’ Compensation Board of Nova Scotia (WCBNS) is seeking its next Chair of the Board of Directors to provide effective governance and stewardship and who leads with an equity and inclusion lens and has the ability to influence direction that is inclusive of the diverse lived experiences of all Nova Scotians, and prioritizes the safety and wellbeing of Nova Scotians. WCBNS is a vibrant, stakeholder-driven Board that oversees the implementation of the Workers’ Compensation Act, including a mandate for injury prevention. The Board of Directors is comprised of members who represent Nova Scotia employers and employees. WCBNS is accountable for establishing the vision and policy direction for the Workers’ Compensation system within Nova Scotia, working within a partnership agreement with the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education.

The Chair is a key leadership position and sets the culture for the organization, working collaboratively with board members to provide effective oversight on corporate strategy, finances, performance, risk management, culture, and talent. The Chair is an important conduit between the organization, stakeholders, and the Nova Scotia Department of Labour and Advanced Education, to foster a progressive and balanced approach to policies and regulations that impact premiums and benefits to injured workers. Appointed by the Governor in Council, the Chair serves for a five-year term and can reapply for a second term.

The Chair position requires a leader who is comfortable dealing in complexity and inspires others through clear vision, who sets the strategic direction for the WCBNS, values diversity and champions inclusion so that the interests of all Nova Scotians are reflected in decisions. The Chair provides leadership to the board and builds, maintains, and appreciates relationships internally and externally by energizing conversations and engagement to gain a greater understanding of the needs of Nova Scotians.

The successful candidate has experience serving on a Board of Directors as a committee chair or board chair and has an in-depth understanding of governance structures, processes, and best practices. An Institute of Corporate Directors designation or an equivalent designation is an asset. The role requires an individual with excellent listening, communication, consensus-building, and facilitation skills. The successful candidate is innovative and possesses exceptional partnership and relationship skills and a broad understanding of the Workers’ Compensation system.

Royer Thompson is committed to presenting a diverse roster of candidates which reflect the population of Nova Scotia. We welcome and encourage applications from the following under-represented groups: Indigenous persons, racially visible persons, persons with a disability, women, and persons of a minority sexual orientation and/or gender identity. If you are a member of one of these under-represented groups, we invite you to self-identify on your cover letter or resume. Please submit your resume and interest online by clicking “Apply.” For further information about this opportunity, please contact Kim West or Brent Wallace in confidence at 902-422-2099.

Royer Thompson Management & Human Resources Consulting is a Canadian talent management firm focused on capturing the full potential of people in organizations by supporting a shared sense of purpose, recruiting and cultivating leadership, and fostering an innovative, caring, and entrepreneurial spirit.
