The Refrigeration Technician supports the Covestro Refrigeration Group and various Business Units with troubleshooting, repairing, and calibrating process refrigeration systems. The ideal candidate will have experience with anhydrous ammonia and will work 12-hour rotating shifts.

1. Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate Process Refrigeration Systems (Includes Start-Up & Shut-Down of Process Refrigeration Systems)
2. Perform shutdown maintenance & repairs on Process Refrigeration Systems
3. Provide maintenance, operation, and emergency response for Process Refrigeration Machines
4. Perform the transfer of refrigerants (ammonia & CFCs) and refrigerant oils to meet Environmental Regulatory requirements
5. Comply with EPA regulatory requirements of Texas Commission on Environmental Quality & Refrigerant Compliance Management (ammonia emissions tracking & CFC refrigerant tracking)
6. Respond to and mitigate leaks on Process Refrigeration Machines containing ammonia
7. Read & understand P&ID's & Electrical Control Diagrams
8. Execute preventative/predictive maintenance, unit readings (SKF software)
9. Write Level 2 Work Plans for ammonia-related work on Process Refrigeration Machines

1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. 5 years of experience in the repair and maintenance of industrial or commercial large tonnage refrigeration systems
3. 5 years of experience maintaining industrial or commercial refrigeration control systems (preferably in a chemical production or support facility)
4. The eligibility to apply for and obtain a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) within a reasonable timeframe
5. Possess a valid Texas Driver's License

1. Associate degree or certification from a technical school or military technical expertise
2. Possess a 24 Hour Haz-Mat Certification or be willing to complete the required training
3. Experience in Screw Compressor Refrigeration (ammonia & CFC)
4. Ability to troubleshoot Analog, Pneumatic, Micro-Processor & Computer-Based issues
5. Experience with Control Systems on Process Refrigeration equipment
6. Experience with Absorption Refrigeration Units (ARUs)
7. Federal EPA Refrigerant Certification (Type 2 and Type 3 or Universal)

1. Knowledge of 5S or lean manufacturing methodology
2. SAP knowledge
3. Microsoft Office and experience with computer-based training
4. Fit tested for respiratory protection
5. Routinely push, pull, and lift 50 pounds while performing normal duties
6. Walk, stand, kneel for extended periods, climb stairs, vertical ladders, and work at heights over 100ft
