Reality Capture Technician

Plays a key role on our national architectural survey team, responsible for capturing and documenting precise existing commercial building conditions using advanced reality capture technologies. This position combines hands‑on fieldwork with technical production work, utilizing tools such as laser scanning (Leica or similar), AutoCAD, and Revit to deliver high‑quality as‑built documentation.

  • Operating LIDAR scanning technology and reality capture survey tools (Leica scanner, etc.) to gather precise visual and dimensional data of as‑built buildings.
  • Registering laser scan point clouds and creating accurate existing condition drawings in Revit.
  • Documenting key building systems, from electrical and mechanical to HVAC and plumbing.
  • Preparing clear reports, photo documentation, and quality‑checking drawings.
  • Supporting field and office teams, helping identify the best methods to capture site data.
  • Ensuring safety protocols are followed to protect yourself, the team, and client properties.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • This role requires 60‑80% national travel, the ability to lift extension ladders, and completing administrative tasks like timesheets and expense reports.
Qualifications
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance (or insurable if renting a vehicle).
  • Must be able to rent a car.
  • Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred.
  • 1‑2+ years of experience conducting building/structural surveying.
  • 1‑2+ years of experience creating building drawings and construction layouts using AutoCAD and Revit.
  • Knowledge of point cloud data and workflow using Recap, and/or Cyclone software.
  • Knowledge of commercial building design standards, building methods, details, and materials.
  • Knowledge of ADA standards preferred.
  • FAA Part 107 License preferred.
  • Proficient in computers, scanners, photogrammetry, mobile technology, Microsoft Office applications, video conferencing and cloud storage systems.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly independent and strong attention to detail; must be able to work under deadlines.
  • Ability to independently manage travel schedules and accurately track & record expenses.
  • Demonstrates time management skills without direct oversight.
Work Conditions & Travel
  • Travel required (60‑80%) across Canada.
  • Travel independently or with partners for extended periods in various geographies and demographic areas (urban, rural, etc.).
  • Must be flexible, adaptable and able to work with fluid schedules and working conditions.
  • Able to climb a building roof ladder and comfortable with heights.
  • Able to work remotely in a home office setting and manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and interact with on‑site customers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Able to work on your feet indoors and outdoors, in varying weather conditions.

Pay & Benefits: The anticipated compensation range for the position is $26–$32/hr, based on a full‑time schedule, market and business conditions, and is commensurate with individual education, qualifications, and experience. This is a contract‑to‑hire position with benefits including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurances, flexible paid time off, paid holidays, sick time, and a matching 401K plan.
