We are seeking a motivated Registered Nurse with a dedication for delivering compassionate patient care to join our team in the Emergency department at Dawson Creek & District Hospital.
In accordance with the established mission, vision, values, and strategic priorities of Northern Health and practicing in accordance with the standards of professional practice and code of ethics as outlined by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM), the Registered Nurse provides direct nursing care to Emergency and High Acuity care patients according to established standards and policies. They identify, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet patients' physical, social, and psychological needs in the Emergency and High Acuity Care environment.
The Regional Emergency Department Education Program (REDEP) / HAU utilizes a standardized, evidence-informed online curriculum called Emergency Nursing Orientation (ENO) offered by Elsevier. REDEP combines this online curriculum with skills/simulation labs and clinical practicum to prepare registered nurses for safe and competent emergency nursing care at a novice level. Upon completion, learners transition into the Northern Health Critical Care Program - High Acuity Unit (NHCCP-HAU), which uses the Essentials in Critical Care Orientation (ECCO) online curriculum combined with clinical practicum.

Dawson Creek & District Hospital is a full-service community hospital with 31 acute care beds and 15 regional adult psychiatric beds. It serves Dawson Creek and surrounding communities, being the Orthopaedic Trauma and Surgical centre for Northeast BC. Services include Emergency, Day Surgery, Respiratory Therapy, Primary Care, Acute Care, Diagnostic Imaging, and Laboratory. Visiting specialists include Urology, Dermatology, Pediatrics, and Obstetrics and Gynecology.
Dawson Creek is known for its blue skies and proximity to the Northern Rockies. It is the start of the Alaska Highway, with a population of approximately 12,500, serving a larger regional population of 60,000. The community offers educational institutions, outdoor activities, and a vibrant local culture.
