The Opportunity
Position: Assistant Analyst (Graduate Trainee Rotational and Specialist Program)

Hours per week: 37.5

Number Required: Multiple across all GTA office locations

Winning the 2024 Canadian HR Award for Next Generation Employment Innovation, the Kinectrics GT Program has been designed to create opportunities for newly graduated engineering and science students to work alongside experts in the field, acquire technical experience in a professional environment, and develop the skills essential for career growth in a consulting environment.

  • Program Length: Our program is designed to run for approximately 24 - 36 months, with a degree of flexibility based on individual needs as well as based on ongoing project work in the department(s) GTs are assigned to either on rotation or as part of the specialist program.
  • Rotational Program: Designed for new graduates who have the interest and flexibility to move to multiple departments and locations across the GTA and as required to our offices at Bruce County to try different engineering, science and project management work until determining a final placement with mutual interest from a department. Rotations will be managed with the assistance of the program lead, inputs based on business need and technical interests of individual GTs.
  • Specialist Program: Designed for new graduates who have an interest in developing within a single departmental area while being exposed to a variety of growth opportunities within their department. This program is ideal for applicants looking to start their careers in a specific technical area to advance their knowledge and specialization within their field.

The program allows new graduates to find their place in the energy industry by tailoring the experience to your personal strengths and goals.

Graduate Trainee, Mechanical Engineering

Accountabilities: How You Will Make an Impact
  • Provide technical and analytical support for multiple projects of varying complexity to ensure work is completed on schedule and on budget to required quality standards.
  • Act as a resource in contributing to the preparation of proposals.
  • Provide supporting technical project management related to transmission and distribution, as well as nuclear power generation. Coordinate between multiple projects to support deliverables.
  • Work both independently as well as with engineering and technical teams to contribute to technical procedure writing (including log sheets, QA program and job safety analysis), data analysis, report preparations and engineering modelling / design.
  • Provide support to Project Leaders in interactions with clients, create progress reports, and complete quality assurance documents.
  • Ensure customer satisfaction by adhering to quality and safety practices in all aspects of the work performed.
  • Perform other duties as required. Duties will vary based on departmental placement and may change if within rotational program.
What You Need to Succeed
  • Minimum 4-year university education in engineering, science or mathematics discipline. Applicants with post graduate degrees (Meng, MSc, PhD in relevant discipline) are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Previous experience in a related field (including either co-op or full-time employment in the utilities, manufacturing, or nuclear industry) an asset but not required (a maximum of 1 year of full-time industry experience accepted).
  • Additional experience or exposure to engineering project management or laboratory facilities is an asset.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and ISO 17025 considered an asset.
  • Willingness to work at various customer sites across Ontario. Some potential to work across North America and worldwide for an extended period of time for those interested.
  • Interest in a fast paced and diverse project work with a focus on both meeting and surpassing the expectations of our clientele.
  • Creativity and a willingness to find new ways of solving technical challenges and innovating solutions to further our industry.
  • Strong attention to detail and motivation to ensure quality in all work outputs.
  • Adaptability to work in diverse teams and be a team player to collaborate and utilize groups technical expertise to provide quality solutions to complex problems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills. Experience writing technical reports, memos, plans, procedures and specifications an asset.
  • Flexibility to work on a wide range of technical tasks related to transmission and distribution and nuclear engineering.
  • Ability to utilize computer software programs for data management, including Microsoft Excel. Other engineering / science software exposure is an asset.
  • Coding experience is an asset but not required.
  • A valid G license preferred for travelling to Kinectrics sites on an as needed basis.
