Overview

The Production Packaging Associate is responsible for proper packaging of materials and finished products. This position will also load and move material and operate packaging equipment. The Utility Worker will also be required to follow Good Manufacturing Practices.

Responsibilities
  • Must be available to work Saturday
  • Must be able to speak, read and write in English
  • Demonstrates punctuality and adheres to work schedule
  • Works well and effectively with others

  • Demonstrates safe work practices by wearing appropriate PPE, following Stop Think Act, and by immediately escalating abnormalities when found
  • Demonstrates Operator Driven Quality by performing hourly inspections, adhering to GMP policy, and by immediately escalating issues when any defect is found
  • Assemble boxes and cartons including hand-pack materials as required
  • Pack and re-pack containers according to established methods
  • Respect all quality control procedures and other company policies
  • Can correctly run drop tests for bottles on designated line
  • Inspect finished products to ensure it conforms to customer requirements
  • Monitor operation of conveyor systems and clear bottle jams from lines
  • Discard defective bottles and report poor quality issues to management
  • Ensure proper packing and packaging of product in accordance with specific customer requirements
  • Keeps work area neat and clean including sweeping and organizing your workstation
  • Other duties as assigned by management
  • Duties may differentiate by plant based on equipment and plant design
  • Detail oriented is an asset
Required Qualifications / Skills
  • Must be reliable & have excellent attendance and own transportation
  • Mandatory on each shift 8 hours or more: standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting to 25 lbs
  • Must have good communication skills both verbal and written
  • Good Vision; Meticulous; Proficient with Information Technology
  • Must be able to work days, afternoons, nights and/or Saturday from time to time
  • Ability to work in a team environment, as well as autonomously, as required
  • If you are scheduled to work midnight shift – you must work on day shift from 6:30 am – 3:00 pm for training purposes before moving to night shift 10:30 pm – 7:00 am
  • Coachable; Professional; Approachable; Quick learner; and Self-motivated
  • Demonstrates good and safe work habits and maintains a clean working environment
  • Post Secondary Education with 2 to 3 years experience in a manufacturing industry preferred
Experience
  • Must be able to speak and understand English. This is a requirement
  • Basic mathematical skills are required
  • Basic computer experience
  • Supervisor, Team Leader is an asset
  • Machine Technician, First Aid OR Forklift is an asset
Education
  • Prefer High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
Training
  • Completion of Altium Production/Packaging Associate training for 30-90 days

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts in a production environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Temperatures inside the plant can fluctuate between hot and cold according to seasonal changes. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required in the production department and other designated areas.
