Job Opportunity : Project Coordinator, Visual Arts Nova Scotia
Visual Arts Nova Scotia (VANS) is accepting applications for a contract, Project Coordinator. The position is a 4-month, 30hrs / week, $12 / hr contract that will start August 1st, 2011 and end December 1st, 2011.
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Project Coordinator will coordinate event and funding logistics for an artist residency and symposium that aims to explore the intersection between traditional and new approaches to site-specific work. The Residency and Symposium will take place in Spring 2012. In preparation for the project, the Project Coordinator will coordinate grant proposals and support material, communicate with international and national artists, partners, volunteers and assist in office administration. The Project Coordinator will act as the primary liaison with artists, presenters and partners of the project; assist in preparation of grants; develop a communications plan; coordinate travel and facility arrangements; and coordinate the preliminary logistics and administration for project workshops, events and registration.
This position requires a highly motivated and organized individual with a keen attention to detail, exceptional communication and research skills (verbal, written and editing); who possesses the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with staff, partners, artists and volunteers in a shared work environment. The position caters to someone who manages multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment and who has knowledge of both visual and media art practices and is involved in Nova Scotia’s visual arts community.
The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree or completed a related post-secondary program or gained equivalent experience. The successful candidate is familiar with office and grant procedures and event coordination and / or administration through previous experience preferably in arts administration and / or the not-for-profit sector. The candidate will also have basic office skills including working with MS Office and Adobe Creative Suite.
