If this sounds like you, our Senior Operations Accountant role based in Prince George, BC, may be the one you’ve been waiting for.
Your primary focus will be to provide the operations management team with relevant financial and statistical analysis regarding strategic plans and operating budgets. As a key member of the Canfor Pulp finance team, you will be trusted with preparing and presenting a full range of operational, financial, and management accounting reports on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis. You will also assist in providing coverage for weekly cost reporting, KPI reporting, and the preparation of the annual business plan and forecasting.
A day in the life of a Senior Operations Accountant will include:
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial statements and supporting analyses and reports
- Preparing annual and quarterly forecasts, and supporting special projects for operations and mill management
- Working closely with the maintenance manager to build, forecast, track, maintain, and report on the maintenance budget
- Reviewing and evaluating capital and extraordinary maintenance projects as required
- Assisting management with departmental budget control, cost reduction initiatives, cost/benefit analysis, and providing financial recommendations
- Preparing journal entries and account reconciliations, including inventory reconciliation
- Organizing and leading the annual finished goods physical mill inventory count
- Ensuring accurate and timely month-end closes
- Preparing monthly and quarterly leadership presentations for the General Manager
- Monitoring, analyzing, and reviewing coding and approval routing of requisitions, work orders, and change orders in Canfor’s Maintenance Management System
- Providing external and internal audit support, ensuring compliance with internal controls, policies, and IFRS
- Coordinating and liaising with internal and external customers
- Supporting other financial team members as required
- Providing financial support and backup for the Controller
- Managing mobile equipment AFE and quarterly submissions, tracking, and approvals
- Preparing annual ICBC mobile equipment insurance and providing related listings and FMV for insurance purposes
- Performing other duties as assigned
Ideally, you have your CPA designation and/or 5+ years of related accounting experience, preferably in an industrial manufacturing environment. You possess strong analytical skills, an keen eye for detail, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Working in a team environment comes naturally to you, and your ability to jump in where needed most sets you apart.

The salary range for this position is: $98,000.00 - $122,500.00
