Overview

Hexagon’s Autonomous Solutions Division is looking for a Quality Specialist to join our engineering and manufacturing company that is committed to customer service excellence and continuous improvement.

The primary purpose of the Quality Specialist is to support, maintain and support the organization’s products, services, and processes of the Autonomous Solutions Division to meet consistent standard of quality. This role assumes full responsibility for Quality Assurance (QA) in Dowling by actively coordinating and executing all activities that support the maintenance of Quality Management System (QMS). The Quality Specialist works collaboratively with Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, and other cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with applicable standards, customer requirements, and internal procedures. This position acts as the local Quality representative and primary point of contact for divisional Quality initiatives, audits, metrics, and standardization efforts.

Responsibilities

Quality Management System

  • Execute, maintain, and continuously improve the local Quality Management System (QMS) in alignment with ISO 9001 requirements and Divisional Quality frameworks.
  • Ensure the organization adheres to applicable industry regulations, certifications, and internal Quality policies.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the QMS to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Manage database of controlled processes within the QMS to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal audits to verify compliance with Quality standards and procedures.
  • Manage and select external auditing company and certification schedule.
  • Monitor and evaluate processes and product specifications to ensure alignment with internal standards and customer requirements.
  • Lead and support root cause analysis activities for quality issues, including the implementation and follow‑up of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to address recurring quality issues.
  • Effectively apply 8D to identify and solve and eliminate recurring issues.
  • Prepare and report Quality performance metrics and status updates to site and divisional leadership.

Customers

  • Monitor and evaluate processes and product specifications to ensure correct alignment with customer specific requirements.
  • Support on site customer audits.
  • Complete customer quality questionnaires and documentation as required.
  • Manage customer complaints and coordinate corrective actions to ensure timely and effective resolution.

Continuous Improvement

  • Ensure continuous improvement of QMS processes by identifying gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of process improvements to enhance product quality and operational effectiveness.
  • Support Lean, Six Sigma, or other methodologies for continuous improvement.

Employees

  • Coordinate and deliver Quality‑related training to ensure employees understand and comply with Quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Support the development and maintenance of training records related to Quality and compliance requirements.

Environmental Management System

  • Ensure the organization adheres to industry regulations and certifications (ISO 14001).
  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Environmental Management System (EMS) to ensure compliance with industry standards and company policies.
  • Manage database of controlled processes within the EMS to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Manage and select external auditing company and certification schedule.
  • Plan, coordinate, and conduct internal audits to ensure compliance with environmental standards.
  • Coordinate EMS‑related activities with site leadership and HSE representatives, as applicable.
Qualifications

Must Have:

  • A degree in Technology and Quality Management, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in quality assurance or relevant experience in quality, operations, engineering, supply chain, or related functions, or a demonstrated interest in transitioning into a Quality‑focused role.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 and experience conducting internal audits.
  • Basic experience or exposure to internal audits, corrective actions, and structured problem‑solving.
  • Knowledge of product development processes.
  • Proficiency in writing technical documents and quality reports (e.g., 8D, CAPA, FA).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams.

Nice to Have:

  • Internal Auditor Certification for Integrated Management Systems.
  • Certification in quality (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Auditor or Engineer).
  • Experience with customer interaction in a quality assurance or quality control capacity.
  • Knowledge or exposure to ISO 14001 and Environmental Management Systems.
  • Familiarity with quality tools such as FMEA, Root Cause Analysis, and control plans as well as ability to facilitate and provide training.
  • Willingness and ability to learn, develop, and grow within a Quality role.
