JOB DETAILS
Pay rate: $23.69/hr to start
Hours: Bi-weekly rotational shifts (5AM-3PM, 7AM-4:30PM, 11AM-8PM), subject to change based on truck unloading schedules (evening shift premium applies)
Shift: Monday to Friday
Location: Nepean
Immediate Supervisor: Yard Foreman & Operations Manager
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with shipping and receiving, including customer orders and returns.
- Help other yard and forklift operators with manual picking of items like drywall, mud, tape, steel, etc.
- Operate propane counterbalance forklift to load and unload trucks as directed.
- Support truck drivers in loading and unloading, ensuring safety and proper handling.
- Assist with returning credit items to proper storage, ensuring accuracy.
- Unload incoming freight and verify counts against purchase orders.
- Complete reports such as order checks, material receipts, and forklift inspections.
- Maintain cleanliness of yard, warehouse, and work areas.
- Perform duties safely, observing all safety procedures and remaining alert to hazards.
- Load customer orders safely and efficiently.
- Identify inventory items correctly and locate/pull items as directed.
- Support other team members and work areas as needed.
- Participate in mandatory annual inventory on the last weekend of July.
- Perform winter snow removal and salting as required.
- Perform additional duties as needed.
REQUIREMENTS
- 6 months to 1 year of verifiable forklift experience.
- CSA-approved steel-toed boots (8” high).
- Forklift certification (asset).
- Working at Heights certification (asset).
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic math, reading instructions, and completing forms skills.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of safe lifting techniques.
- Use of Personal Protective Equipment as prescribed.
- Physical strength to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 100 lbs., frequently up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, and see clearly (acuity, depth perception, field of vision, accommodation).
- Ability to reach overhead.
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL WORKING CONDITIONS
- Work outdoors in temperature extremes.
- Operate mechanical equipment daily.
