Work environment
Financial Services Administrators are employed at all Canadian Armed Forces bases in Canada, on ships, and overseas, supporting Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy, or Royal Canadian Air Force operations. They may serve in various units and positions, including embassies and NATO / UN roles.
Entry requirements
No previous work experience or specific skills are required. The minimum education is completion of Grade 10 or Secondary 4 in Quebec, including Grade 10 applied math and English or French. Foreign education may be accepted.
Training
The first stage is Basic Military Qualification at the Canadian Forces Leadership and Recruit School in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec. This is followed by approximately 12 weeks of training at the Canadian Forces Logistics Training Centre in Borden, Ontario, covering financial authority, accounting, processing invoices, claims, support to operations, and budget maintenance.
Opportunities for specialized and advanced training are available, including courses in Cashier, Non-Public Funds, Aviation Petroleum, Compliance, Verification, Business Planning, and Civilian Personnel Management.
Part-time options
This position is available for part-time employment with the Primary Reserve across Canada. Reserve members serve part-time, usually one night a week and some weekends, with possibilities for full-time employment and deployment.
