Job description
Overview

The StrongStart facilitator will develop and deliver programming for families with children ages birth to six. The program supports parents and caregivers in participating alongside their children in engaging activities that focus on important aspects of early childhood development in a play-based setting.

Qualifications and Attributes
  • Certificate in Early Childhood Education
  • Applicants who are currently enrolled in an ECE certificate-accredited program are welcome to apply
  • Valid Community Care Facilities Branch BC License to Practice
  • Understanding the BC Early Learning Framework is beneficial
  • Experience working with families with young children
  • Strong understanding of child development and local community resources
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills
  • Valid First Aid and FoodSafe certifications will be considered assets
Duties of the StrongStart program
  • Align goals and objectives with the Province of BC’s StrongStart mandate
  • Create a safe and nurturing learning environment
  • Engage and assist parents in supporting their children’s early learning skills
  • Complete administrative tasks (e.g., attendance and reporting) as per the Ministry and CBAL expectations
  • Collaborate with CBAL colleagues, school staff, partners, and community members to promote, enhance, and expand StrongStart programming
  • Connect families with appropriate community supports
  • Attend district and CBAL meetings when required
