We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Senior Chemical Lab Analyst to lead the operations of our chemical laboratory and support medical device development, testing, and production. The successful candidate will oversee day-to-day lab functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and play a key role in method development, materials analysis, and quality control in accordance with ISO 13485, FDA, and other regulatory guidelines.

Please note that this opportunity is an on-site work arrangement, located in Burnaby, BC.

Your responsibilities will be to:

  • Manage and coordinate the day-to-day operation of the analytical chemistry lab including:
  • Selection of supplies, consumables and equipment to support operations.
  • Development and maintenance of appropriate SOPs, WIGs and other documentation to support lab operations.
  • Management of lab reference standards, retention samples and quality controls materials.
  • Develop, validate, and implement analytical test methods to ICH standards for raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
  • Lead and mentor lab technicians on chemical lab techniques and validated methods.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments; coordinate calibration, maintenance, and service schedules.
  • Analyze and interpret laboratory results in accordance with established laboratory work processes including out-of-specification investigations.
  • Develop chemical design specifications for incoming chemicals including assessment of their suitability for their intended use and inspection requirements.
  • Manage chemical inventory, safety data sheets (SDS), waste disposal, and ensure compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert for the chemistry of the manufacturing processes. Supports chemical process improvements and changes related to manufacturing processes.

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Master’s preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in a medical device or pharmaceutical laboratory.
  • Strong knowledge of analytical methods and equipment used in the analysis of coatings and other medical-grade materials.
  • Familiarity with regulatory and quality standards (e.g., ISO 13485, FDA QSR, cGMP, GLP).
  • Working knowledge of sterilization validation, extractables/leachables, or biocompatibility studies is preferred.

Compensation

Kardium has listed the total cash compensation range (base salary + 5% RRSP contribution) that we expect to pay applicants for this role, as of the time of this posting. Pay offered will be determined based on numerous relevant business and candidate factors including, for example, education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, and business or organizational needs. For candidates with more or less experience than listed above, the pay range will be adjusted. As a permanent employee, you will also participate in Kardium’s stock option plan.

  • $80,000 – 110,000 (CAD Annually)
