Position: Assistant Controller
Location: Richmond, BC
Compensation: $65,000 – $70,000 (commensurate with experience)
What You’ll Do
- Daily Operations & Accounts Payable
- Process Vendor Invoices & Payments: Review, verify, code, and enter vendors’ invoices. Work closely with vendors to resolve discrepancies, ensure timely processing of invoices, and schedule payments while adhering to company policies.
- Vendor Relationship Management: Serve as a point of contact for vendor inquiries, supporting positive vendor relationships and managing account reconciliations. Monitor vendor aging reports and help maintain strong standing with vendors.
- Expense Reports: Process employee expense claims, ensuring compliance with internal reimbursement policies.
- Month-End Close & Management Reporting
- Journal Entries & Adjustments: Assisting on accounting journal entries for accruals, adjustments, and general ledger maintenance.
- Bank & Account Reconciliations: Assisting on monthly bank and credit card reconciliations, investigate variances, and ensure all transactions are accurately recorded.
- Month-End Support: Provide critical support for the month-end close process by preparing account reconciliations, supporting schedules, and working papers. Analyze variances and help maintain a timely, smooth close.
- Financial Statement Preparation: Contribute data towards the preparation of financial statements and management reports. Work with the Controller/CFO to ensure all reporting is accurate and deadline-driven.
- Project Work & Financial Analysis
- Special Projects: Participate in accounting and finance projects such as process improvement initiatives, the implementation of new systems, or data migration tasks.
- Business Expansion Initiatives: With the business growing, engage in the setup and tracking of new projects, cost tracking, and supporting integration of new business lines into accounting processes.
- General Administration & Ad Hoc Support
- Records Management: Ensure all financial documents are accurately filed and maintained, both electronically and in hard copy, per company policy.
- Team Collaboration: Provide general administrative support to the finance and operations team as needed. Be prepared to take on a wide variety of ad hoc assignments and support cross-department projects.
- In summary, you'll play a key role in keeping our financial operations running smoothly, collaborating across teams, learning and applying the principles of full cycle accounting, and developing your expertise as an integral part of Seair Seaplanes’ continued success and expansion.
What We’re Looking For
- Education: Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline. Actively working towards an accounting designation (CPA or equivalent) is preferred.
- Experience:
- Minimum 3 years’ previous experience in full cycle accounting.
- Previous experience with QuickBooks or a similar accounting software is required.
- Experience with an ERP system is an asset.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is a must.
- Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization tools is an asset.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $65,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
