Job description

Your Opportunity:

Myron Thompson Health Centre is located in a rural community in west central Alberta. RNs work within a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/ER and continuing care environment. This setting suits candidates who enjoy a broad spectrum of nursing care and have experience in ER, med-surg, or cardiac units. The incumbent provides leadership to LPNs and Healthcare Attendants for both acute and long-term care patients. The centre features 14 acute care beds, 5 long-term care beds, 4 restorative beds, and a five-stretcher emergency department. The surrounding rural districts include Mountain View County and Clearwater County. The work location is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness, which may make you eligible for student loan forgiveness if other criteria are met.

Description:

As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will deliver a wide range of nursing services to patients, families, and communities, ensuring their safety and well-being. Your role involves utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making, along with teaching, counseling, and advocating for patients and families. You will support an integrated, holistic approach to patient care, health promotion, and maintenance, providing safe, quality, patient- and family-centered care aligned with AHS values.

Note: Provisional Permit Holders will be paid $39.58/hour to $54.16/hour. Upon registration as a Registered Nurse, pay will be adjusted to the applicable RN rate according to AHS/UNA agreements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
  • Active or eligible registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).
  • If not practicing as an RN in the last five years, completion of CRNA Medication Management and NextGenU Health Assessment Resources Certification courses.

Additional Required Qualifications include demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, experience in multiple acute clinical settings, ongoing professional development, and competence maintenance. Preferred qualifications include certifications like ACLS, TNCC, MOREOB, NRP, and experience with cardiac monitoring and CTAS.
