Job description

As a Pump Attendant with Tofino Co-op, you play a key role in providing exceptional, personalized service to members and guests. You are responsible for ensuring a clean, safe, and welcoming environment while delivering prompt and friendly service at the fuel pumps, propane station, and convenience store. Through your professionalism and commitment, you help strengthen relationships with our members and promote continued loyalty to the Co-op.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Greet customers promptly and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance with fueling, propane, and products.
  • Promote Co-op membership, programs, and specials when appropriate.
  • Accurately process all sales and payments through the POS system.
  • Balance till and follow all cash-handling procedures.
  • Safely perform propane refills/exchanges and monitor fueling operations for safety, once propane certified.
  • Identify and address or report any spills, leaks, or unsafe behavior.
  • Stock, rotate, and organize merchandise to maintain inventory and freshness.
  • Keep retail and storage areas clean, organized, and well-presented.
  • Perform daily cleaning of store interior and exterior, pumps, and washrooms.
  • Maintain safety and promptly report maintenance or safety issues.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth operations and great service.
  • Follow all Co‑op policies, safety standards, and participate in training as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A secondary school diploma is preferred
  • Previous retail, gas bar, or customer service experience is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety and handling procedures for fuel and propane.
Working Conditions
  • Flexible availability, including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Indoor and outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
Physical Requirements
  • Standing and walking for extended periods (up to 8 hours).
  • Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs.
