What will you be doing!

• Assisting in developing and accepting responsibility for project work packages involving design, construction, commissioning, and facility decommissioning activities.
• Providing technical direction to support projects.
• Preparing and reviewing technical work scopes and specifications.
• Identifying, assessing, and initiating changes to approved design and construction work scope.
• Assessing equipment selection options and providing recommendations.
• Proactively supporting and implementing the project quality assurance plan.
• Conducting field walk-downs to verify design parameters, construction progress, and operational readiness.
• Representing Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) in a professional capacity and liaising with external design consultants and contractors.
• Maintaining confidentiality in all matters.
• Maintaining and growing knowledge, including industry best practices and pending changes in legislation.
• Participating in and maintaining up-to-date safety and operational training offered through the company.
• Assuming personal responsibility and being accountable for maintaining current skills, professional development, and professional certifications by attending all
• required training, viewing assigned videos, reading articles, and participating in seminars as required.
• Sharing learned knowledge and skills with peers.
• Identifying and reporting any real or potential safety hazards; wearing all safety equipment related to the position and participating in all safety training offered through the facility.
• Adhering to Workplace Safety and Health procedures, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) program; keeping current with practices; working prudently and safely, and informing other employees if they are using unsafe work practices or equipment.
• Other duties as assigned by your manager.
  

What we are looking for:

• Education
  • Bachelor (Honours) degree in Engineering or Science from a University of recognized standing.
  • Must be a member or eligible for membership with Engineers Geoscientists of Manitoba (EGM) as a Registered Professional Engineer.
• Experience
  • 10 or more years’ experience within the nuclear industry, ideally in work associated with the waste management, decommissioning and/or processing systems.
  • Sound knowledge of the National Building Code, National Fire Code and other relevant codes and standards used in the design, construction, and decommissioning of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities.
  • Sound knowledge of nuclear decommissioning activities and industry standard techniques used to safely decommission nuclear facilities.
  • Strong technical knowledge of remote tooling and remote operations
  • Knowledge of engineering codes and standards used in the design, construction, commissioning and operation of nuclear facilities. Experience or knowledge?
  • Experience resolving complex technical challenges, from both a strategic and execution-level perspective.
  • Excellent written communication skills. Proven history of producing high-quality technical documents.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of technical methods and resources required for the planning and execution of commissioning work.
  • Experience providing technical leadership to professional and technical resources.
• Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment in technical matters, to routinely solve technical problems and to make independent decisions.
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective team leadership and team-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team and interact with staff at various levels of the organization.
  • Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills and be able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Planning and prioritization skills are needed to meet established schedules and deadlines.
• Security Clearance Eligibility Required

  • Reliability Status with Site Access Security Clearance (SASC), which has a minimum requirement of 3-5 years of verifiable history in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and/or the United Kingdom. CNL implements security screening in accordance with the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat's “Standard on Security Screening” and the “Policy on Government Security.”

Working Conditions:

• We have a compressed work week, which consists of a four-day work week and ten hours a day, starting at 6 am.
