Overview

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary part-time Plasma Nurse to join our dynamic Collections Operations Ont team.

The Collections Operations Ont team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by collecting plasma in a safe manner to enable safe products which save lives every day. In this role, you will be responsible for administrative support to all program activities and you will provide support in accordance with all regulations, standards and good manufacturing practice.

Leveraging your ability to communicate effectively with donors, you will conduct registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and build and promote a positive donor experience.

Utilizing your strong people skills, you will provide donors with information, instruction, and advice on plasma donation.

Drawing on your knowledge and experience you will provide coaching and consultation to donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events as needed.

With your excellent interpersonal skills, you will work in a diverse team environment assisting in the collection of plasma, which save lives daily.

At mobile events within our communities, you will assist in setting up booths, tables, and other equipment to ensure donor clinics are properly set up for use.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative support to program activities in compliance with regulations, standards, and good manufacturing practice.
  • Conduct donor registration and confidential screening to determine eligibility and foster a positive donor experience.
  • Provide information, instruction, and advice to donors on plasma donation.
  • Coach and consult with donor centre staff, acting as team lead for collection events as needed.
  • Assist in the collection of plasma as part of a diverse team; support mobile donor clinics and event setups.
  • Set up booths, tables, and equipment at mobile events to ensure donor clinics are ready for use.
Eligibility and Education
  • Completion of accredited nursing program and current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the province is required.
  • 2 years of nursing experience is an asset; certification in First Aid and CPR is an asset.
  • Precepting or coaching experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Outlook; ability to learn new systems and programs.
  • Second language is an asset to support a positive donor experience.
