A prominent health care facility is seeking a Pharmacy Technician for their Acute Care Pharmacy in Toronto. This full-time position requires expertise in unit-dose drug distribution and sterilization techniques, alongside strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidates should possess current licensure by the Ontario College of Pharmacists and prior experience in an Acute Care setting is preferred. The role demands flexibility for various shifts including evenings and weekends.
We currently have a permanent full time vacancy for a Pharmacy Technician in the Sunnybrook (Bayview site) Acute Care Pharmacy. Expected start date: as soon as possible.
The pharmacy technician duties can be broadly divided into three areas: unit-dose drug distribution, IV admixture and chemotherapy compounding and clerical duties such as inventory management. Responsibilities include tasks such as medication order pick-up/delivery of medications, dispensing medication orders, filling and delivery of medication carts, stocking automated dispensing units and performing the necessary functions on computers while meeting pharmacy standards for accuracy and speed; being able to complete sterile product preparation for IV admixture and chemotherapy/hazardous drugs, utilizing aseptic technique; and being able to complete the necessary mathematical calculations and translating these calculations to the proper equipment to ensure accurate measurement in the preparation of products. Other pharmacy technician duties included are inventory management, ordering and receiving of drugs and supplies, and documentation of staff meeting discussions. Evening, weekend, statutory holiday shifts and on-call are required.
