Overview

Job Title: Business Analyst – Payments

Location: Toronto, ON

Department: Payments

Reports To: Director – Payments Product Management

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Business Analyst to join our Payments team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys solving complex problems, and is passionate about driving excellence. You will play a key role in supporting initiatives that enhance our payments capabilities, improve client experiences, and streamline internal processes.

Responsibilities
  • Develops solutions and makes recommendations based on an understanding of the business strategy and stakeholder needs.
  • Supports the execution of strategic initiatives in collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Leads change management of varying scope and type; tasks typically focused on execution and sustainment activities.
  • Competes internal and regulatory reporting.
  • Acts as the day-to-day contact for vendors; supports the implementation, maintenance, and sustainment of vendor solutions.
  • Gathers basic market research and competitive intelligence, including pricing, from publicly available information.
  • Defines and implements business cases and strategic roadmaps for banking products and services, including project and budget approvals.
  • Designs, implements, manages, and enhances a single product or suite of products throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors key metrics and action plans to optimize financial performance.
  • Continuously improves processes to identify issues and deliver optimal customer experience.
  • Creates the marketing strategy, including offers and campaigns, and works with Marketing and other partners to execute.
  • Develops, implements, and manages product documentation, templates, and requirements to ensure they accurately reflect product and systems functionality.
  • Analyzes data to identify trends, patterns, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to create process maps, workflows, and documentation to support business requirements and operational changes.
  • Monitors KPIs and performance metrics to evaluate the success of initiatives for senior leadership.
  • Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.
  • Broader work or accountabilities may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in banking, cash management, payments, business analysis or a related role.
  • Strong analytical, reporting and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022 and file formats.
  • Proficiency in Excel and other data analysis tools.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of retail and business banking environmental awareness / understanding.
  • Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.
  • Influence, collaboration & team skills - In-depth.
  • Data driven decision making - In-depth.
  • Methodology and process – good
  • Desirable: Software and systems architecture knowledge – good BMO Experince
