Overview
National Director of Production Operations at Clutch. The National Director of Production Operations (GM of GM’s) is a senior operational leader responsible for the strategic execution, performance optimization, and end-to-end consistency of Clutch’s national vehicle production infrastructure. This role includes full accountability for all operational outcomes across the company's Inspection and Reconditioning Centers (IRCs) and leads a national Blitz Team for IRC launches and tactical interventions.
This position requires an accomplished operations leader with demonstrated expertise in multi-site management, lean principles, production control systems, and cross-functional coordination at an enterprise level.
Key Responsibilities
- National IRC Operations Oversight — Assume end-to-end responsibility for the performance and integrity of all IRC facilities across Canada; ensure sites operate within a standardized, scalable framework; develop and enforce site-level execution plans aligned with national production strategy; maintain full visibility into site health metrics through formalized reporting structures and escalation protocols.
- Production Network Execution & Inventory Control — Direct ownership of national vehicle throughput, production funnel optimization, and inventory staging across all WIP categories; ensure vehicles are prioritized and processed per readiness timelines and SLAs; design and implement systems for real-time inventory balance monitoring, constraint identification, and corrective action.
- KPI Ownership and Operational Performance Management — Define, track, and enforce critical performance indicators (CPU, vehicle readiness timelines, cycle time, WIP, takt times); drive a culture of continuous improvement with accountability to performance benchmarks and fiscal discipline.
- Leadership of Regional and Site-Level Management — Lead a distributed team of Regional Production Managers and Site Production Managers; facilitate talent development, succession planning, and leadership training; conduct regular performance reviews and corrective action plans.
- Operational Standardization and Process Integrity — Champion SOPs and production quality controls across all IRC locations; monitor for deviations, implement control mechanisms, and conduct root cause analyses; promote lean, Six Sigma, and 5S where applicable.
- Blitz Team Leadership and Strategic Deployment — Oversee a Blitz Team for launches, peak-period accelerations, and rapid-response interventions; define activation criteria, staffing models, and intervention frameworks.
- Daily and Weekly Operational Cadence — Govern the national rhythm through structured forums (morning standups, daily throughput reviews, weekly KPI alignment calls, escalation / resolution reviews); ensure timely, standardized, actionable production reporting across all levels.
- Cross-Functional Interface and Strategic Alignment — Act as the primary interface between production operations and Logistics, Central Inventory Management, CX, Product / Engineering / Analytics; facilitate system integration, SLA alignment, and interdepartmental dependency resolution.
- Workforce Stability, Safety, and Compliance — Collaborate with HR and Site Leadership to maintain staffing, shift coverage, and role alignment; enforce health, safety, and labor regulation compliance; foster a culture of safety, inclusion, and operational discipline.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Operations Management, Supply Chain, Engineering, or related field; MBA or equivalent advanced degree preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively senior leadership in production, logistics, or operations, with significant multi-site oversight.
- Strong attention to operational detail and standard work adherence; exceptional analytical and decision-making skills under pressure.
- Ability to navigate ambiguity and drive structured execution in dynamic environments; strong interpersonal influence to align cross-functional stakeholders and frontline staff.
- Proven success managing complex, high-throughout production or reconditioning environments; fluency in process standardization, quality systems, and KPI management; experience in leading distributed teams across geographically dispersed sites.
- Track record of deploying operational improvements with measurable outcomes in efficiency, cost, and customer satisfaction.
