Job description

WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer or Designer to join our growing Buildings team in Interior BC, based out of our Kelowna or Kamloops office. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated mechanical professional with approximately 5 years of experience to contribute to a variety of building projects across BC, the Yukon, and Western Canada.

You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and designers on projects in sectors such as healthcare, education, transportation, and light industrial, with opportunities to take on increasing responsibility in project design, coordination, and client collaboration.

What you can expect to do here:

  • Design of the mechanical building systems (HVAC, plumbing & drainage, fire protection) from concept through construction.
  • Prepare detailed engineering drawings, technical reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate with architects, other engineering disciplines, and contractors to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Assist in quality control reviews and ensure deliverables meet WSP's high standards.
  • Stay current with new technologies and sustainable design approaches and participate in internal knowledge-sharing and learning opportunities.
  • Participate in meetings with clients and stakeholders to understand project goals and provide technical input.
  • Support the preparation of proposals, presentations, and design reports as needed.

What you’ll bring to WSP:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Registered (or eligible to register) as an EIT or P.Eng. with EGBC.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in the consulting engineering industry.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems for buildings.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit MEP is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with projects in the Okanagan and familiarity with the BC Interior market is an asset.
  • LEED accreditation or interest in sustainable design is a plus.
  • PSPC Reliability Clearance is an asset.

Salary range (in British Columbia): $71,500 to 98,300

The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The salary range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
