Job summary

A ski resort in Alberta is seeking Snow School Instructors to teach ski or snowboard lessons to students of all ages and abilities. Candidates must hold a CSIA or CASI Level 1 certification and be physically fit to ski with clients. This is a part-time, seasonal role with a competitive hourly pay. Candidates with previous experience in a Snow Sports School will be preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum CSIA or CASI Level 1 certification or international equivalent.
  • Physically fit and capable of skiing with students for a full day.
  • Previous experience in a Snow Sports School is valued.

Responsibilities

Overview

Teaching ski or snowboard lessons to students of all ages. Teaching all abilities within the scope of current certification. Providing guided services for Mountain Tours, or FAM tours. Providing safety orientations for school and youth groups. Assisting with other duties as assigned by the Snow School Supervisors.

Responsibilities
  • Teach ski or snowboard lessons to students of all ages and abilities within the scope of current certification.
  • Provide guided services for Mountain Tours or familiarization (FAM) tours.
  • Provide safety orientations for school and youth groups.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned by the Snow School Supervisors.
  • For L1 instructors: teach all age groups from 3 years through adults, introduce never-skied/snowboarded students to progression, fit equipment, and teach safe control on blue terrain; navigate simple tree trails; teach safe lift use and Alpine Responsibility Code; tailor lessons to age, ability, and lesson type; receive basic training from rentals to assist guests within lesson packages.
  • For L2 instructors: fulfill L1 responsibilities and progress students from blue to black terrain; introduce techniques for off-piste, bumps, powder, and varying snow; lead group organization and manage large groups in meeting areas.
Qualifications
  • Minimum CSIA or CASI Level 1 certification or international equivalent.
  • Physically fit and able to assist clients with standing; capable of skiing with students for a full day.
  • Willingness to perform additional duties described in the job posting; ability to work well under pressure during busy periods or with difficult customers.
  • Previous experience in a Snow Sports School is valued; additional teaching qualifications (dual certifications, Park, CADs, ACA, etc.) are assets.
  • Core competencies: friendly and professional manner, exceptional customer service, adaptability, self-motivation, teamwork, safety awareness, and willingness to assist other departments as needed.
  • CSIA Level 1 or 2 or ISIA equivalent; Criminal Record/Vulnerable Sector Check.
