Overview

It''s an amazing time to join Golden Life as we continue to expand our seniors housing, care, and services within western Canada.

We’re looking for a qualified, full-time Maintenance Manager to join our team. This role will oversee the day-to-day maintenance and operations at both Castle Wood Village in Castlegar, BC and Mountain Side Village in Fruitvale, BC. If you are mechanically inclined, a strong team player, and have previous building or maintenance experience, we’d love to hear from you! The successful candidate will demonstrate hands-on expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a genuine passion for ensuring safe, comfortable, and well-maintained environments for seniors.

Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of the Community Manager, maintain all aspects of the building including but not limited to building interior, exterior, and grounds, mechanical, electrical and site aesthetics.
  • Ensure preventative maintenance duties on all building components are fulfilled as per the preventative maintenance schedule and manufacturers specifications.
  • In conjunction with the Community Manager, review, perform or coordinate all maintenance requests and resident requests. These items will be reviewed daily and prioritized in order of importance.
  • Directly deal with trades, suppliers and contracted services that relate to the maintenance department. This includes:
    • Initiate and follow all finance policies and procedures.
    • Track and monitor trades time and workmanship and sign off on all services that are completed.
    • Collect and maintain all warranty information and actively pursue all warranty items when applicable.
    • Quotes, schedules, quality controls and scopes of work.
    • Resolve conflicts and report all discrepancies to the Community Manager.
  • Work closely with the Community Managers to mitigate all resident and staff complaints.
  • Source new trades, suppliers, material & manpower.
  • Assist the Community Managers in training and ongoing education of staff in relation to building system components and maintenance practices.
  • Work closely with construction during the turnover of a new building, addition or project.
  • Assist in the setup and implementation of new trade and service provider contracts. Be familiar with the terms and conditions of service agreements and hold all parties accountable to the terms and conditions of agreement.
The successful candidate will meet the below requirements
  • A strong mechanical or electrical understanding.
  • Previous building or facility maintenance experience.
  • Exceptional ability to work independently, managing relationships with external vendors.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot and work through a variety of situations.
  • Ability to multi-task, manage time effectively and prioritize work.
  • Ability to plan, deliver and evaluate budgets.
  • Capable of carrying out significant lifting, carrying, pulling, bending and reaching.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • The ability to create sound and economical solutions in emergency situations.
  • Clear Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check.
  • Provide Negative TB Screening and Immunization Record.
