Role

The Strathcona Refinery is looking for a laboratory student to work in the Quality Assurance Laboratory. The laboratory operates seven days a week with typical hours of 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Some posts begin from 6:00 am to 2:30 pm. There will be opportunities to support weekend rotations depending on training during the term. A large part of your work scope will be to qualify and test manufactured products and support refinery operations at various stages of the refining process.

What you will do
  • Manage the workload in your work area and perform daily testing required by the refinery in a supportive environment.
  • Receive on‑the‑job training from an experienced employee, including test methods and coaching on daily tasks to ensure your area operates efficiently.
  • Manage workload and conduct laboratory testing per testing protocols and test methods.
  • Enter data into the lab information system to document results and communicate them as needed.
  • Gain hands‑on experience in an oil and gas lab within an established Quality Control System.
  • Participate in company networking opportunities, including the Networking Advisory Program (NAP) and the Women’s Interest Network (WIN), fostering professional growth and advancement of women at all levels.
About you – Skills and Qualifications
  • Completion of 1st year in a Chemical Technology Diploma program or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
