LifeLabs Medical Laboratory Services, a proud Canadian company with over 50 years of experience, provides laboratory testing services that assist healthcare providers in diagnosing, treating, monitoring, and preventing disease. We are currently seeking a Lab Patient Technician to join our team in Woodstock, ON.

As a Lab Patient Technician, you will be responsible for the specimen collection process, from greeting patients to preparing specimens for transportation. This vital role impacts patient care and our business, allowing you to see the difference you make in patients’ lives. This is a part-time float role, working up to 20 hours per week, suitable for individuals with a flexible schedule, with opportunities to pick up additional shifts at other LifeLabs locations.

In this role, you will:

  • Greet patients, request required information, explain the specimen collection process, and ensure test protocols are followed prior to collection.
  • Perform phlebotomies, connect/disconnect holter monitors, and perform ECG tracings.
  • Handle special test collections such as drug screens, paternity tests, and clinical trials, completing related documentation.
  • Maintain client relationships, respond to inquiries, and follow up on requests.
  • Enter patient data and requisition information accurately.
  • Prepare specimens for transportation and testing.

The ideal candidate will prioritize excellent customer/patient service and relate well to patients and clients, even in stressful situations. Key qualities include empathy, flexibility, adaptability, and problem-solving skills. Additional requirements include:

  • Graduate of an approved Laboratory Assistant program or equivalent.
  • Phlebotomy experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Good computer skills with a minimum typing speed of 40 WPM.
  • Ability to maintain strict patient privacy and confidentiality standards.

This is an in-person role.

Hiring Range: $24.02 - $28.05

The final salary will be determined based on experience, education, market conditions, and internal equity.
