Overview
Instructional Designer I role at Safe Software. This position focuses on building a scalable training customization system and developing on-demand and live training content to support diverse user needs.
Responsibilities
- Design modular training paths tailored to job roles and customer needs.
- Create detailed instructional plans and structured course pathways.
- Build and maintain a training customization system to support future scale.
- Conduct job task analyses, user research, and training needs assessments.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts and cross-functional teams to identify learning goals.
- Develop eLearning modules, video tutorials, user guides, and more.
- Support live virtual training sessions and assist in delivery.
- Continuously improve training materials based on feedback and learner data.
- Evaluate the use of new course authoring tools as part of customization.
- Contribute to the overall development and scalability of the FME Academy.
Qualifications, Skills, And Competencies
- 1–2 years of experience in instructional design, adult education, or customer training.
- Strong communication and content writing skills.
- Experience designing and customizing training for non-technical and technical users.
- Understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM).
- Familiarity with learning platforms (LMS) and multimedia creation tools.
- Willingness to learn technical concepts in data integration or software education.
Desired Skills / Bonus Points
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Adult Education, Education Technology, Instructional Design, or equivalent work experience
- Experience with FME or similar data integration platforms
- Familiarity with data types (GIS, CAD, APIs, databases) and use cases
- Exposure to programming languages like Python and data formats like XML and JSON
- Experience with learning management systems like Skilljar
- Experience with e-learning authoring tools like Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate
- Experience with screen capture tools like TechSmith Snagit
- Experience with video editing tools like Davinci Resolve
- Experience with AI tools like ChatGPT
- Interest in UX / UI as it relates to training effectiveness
