Position Overview

The HR Generalist is responsible for full cycle recruitment and onboarding of seasonal and full-time employees in any of our Canadian Locations. This HR Generalist will also assist with administering payroll, GRSP, and Health benefits for Canada while also being able to understand payroll and benefits in the US and be available to answer employee’s questions. They will also handle any employee relations issues that arise

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Ensure onboarding documentation is completed, including signing of policies and declarations of employment
  • Manage the full-cycle recruitment process including posting jobs, candidate screening, conducting interviews and onboarding

Employee Relations & HR Administration

  • Serve as a key contact for employee relations, providing guidance and support to employees and supervisors as needed
  • Maintain and organize HR records and electronic personnel files (e.g, job descriptions, payroll, benefits, Group RSP, physical demands policies
  • Draft employee communications and letters

Compensation & Benefits

  • Perform compensation analysis and benchmarking as required
  • Administer health benefits for Canadian employees and assist with enrollments, updated and annual true-up processes
  • Manage Group RSP (Group Registered Savings Plan) enrollments and adjustments
  • Support annual Manulife benefits true-up and ensure accuracy and updates following compensation changes

Payroll & Compliance

  • Serve as backup for payroll processing and Timesheet tracking
  • Liaise with CRA and assist with filing of yearly payroll for seasonal employees
  • Conduct HR audits and generate reports, including Worker’s Compensation submissions

Training & Development

  • Coordinate and facilitate employee training sessions on various HR policies, procedures and benefits. Virtual and in-person
  • Create comprehensive training materials including PowerPoint presentations, handouts, and worksheets tailored to each session

Required Knowledge, Skills And Abilities

  • Degree in Human Resources, Business, Communications or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of HR experience.
  • Prior recruitment experience preferred
  • Must have some experience processing payroll
  • Prior Benefits administration experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Aptitude to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to maintain organization, creativity and professionalism in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
