The Technologist is responsible for the efficient and effective completion of ordered DI examinations and the day-to-day operation of the Ultrasound area within the Diagnostic Imaging Department. They apply knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology to analyze sonographic data, distinguish normal and abnormal findings, and identify specific diseases and conditions. They are also responsible for the safe dispensing of controlled energy sources as defined by the Regulated Health Professional Act, including ultrasound energy.
