Job description

The Health & Safety Coordinator will be required to collaborate with management to conduct site inspections, complete regular COR audits, assist in the review of hazard assessments, co‑ordinate site safety and site safety requirements and attend site locations around Alberta.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate the implementation and administration of Health & Safety policies, processes, systems and monitor compliance with all relevant legislation, rules and regulations.
  • Participate in the review of H&S performance, interpret results and coach staff on how to improve performance.
  • Perform safety administration duties.
  • Provide consultation and assist in risk assessment, hazard analysis and job planning.
  • Conduct COR safety audits, coordinate audit recommendations, and assist in the development of corrective action plans in consultation with department management.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of and adherence to all applicable legislation, standards, guidelines, and influence the adoption of standards when applicable.
  • Work closely with operators, contractors, vendors, and other persons to ensure project safety requirements are being adhered to.
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) certification preferred
  • Have a basic knowledge of common construction practices, techniques, and equipment
  • Have a knowledge of OH&S Health & Safety Policies, Regulations, Codes and Practices as they apply to the construction industry
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, primarily Word, Excel & Outlook
