Job description
What we're Looking for:

We’re building fast — and thoughtfully. From rapid product launches to hitting meaningful user milestones, Phoenix is a place where engineering, growth, and creativity intersect. We believe the best growth comes from well-crafted experiences that users love.

If you’re early in your career, curious by default, and excited to see your work directly impact users and key metrics, this role is for you.

As a Growth Developer, you’ll sit at the intersection of Product, Engineering, and Growth. You’ll live in React, building polished, world-class UI. You’ll measure what matters, learn from real user behaviour, and use data to guide rapid UI experimentation at Phoenix.

You won’t be expected to know everything — but you will be expected to learn quickly, take ownership, and care deeply about outcomes.

Have a quick read on the mindset of a Product‑Minded Software Developer. If this describes you, then you’ll be a great fit for this role! https://blog.pragmaticengineer.com/the-product-minded-engineer/

What You’ll Do:
  • Build and iterate on user‑facing features in React that drive acquisition, activation and retention

  • Implement A/B test experiments in collaboration with Product, Marketing, and Design to understand user behaviour through data

  • Play a key role in moving the needle on key business metrics that drive our business

  • Work closely with senior developers who will mentor you and review your work

What You Bring:
  • 1 – 2 years of professional experience working with React with some strong real‑world projects

  • Are comfortable in at least one modern Javascript front‑end framework (ideally React)

  • A growth mindset: you’re curious, iterative, and motivated by learning what works

  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach to problem‑solving

  • You are passionate about improving the Canadian healthcare experience and have a personal connection to the space

Nice to Haves:
  • Experience using BI tools to deliver actionable insights

  • Worked on experiments, funnels, or conversion‑focused features

  • Experience with Typescript, Tailwind CSS, React Hook Form and/or SQL

Why work at Phoenix?
  • Impact & autonomy. You’ll work directly with passionate, experienced leaders who understand the ups‑and‑downs of the business and you'll have a real opportunity to shape the future at Phoenix

  • Rewarding Mission. We're delivering the best healthcare experience to Canadians across the country

  • Collaborative Culture. We are a growing elite team in Downtown Toronto. We love the tight feedback loop of working together in the office. If you've missed that in‑person office experience, and love sharing strongly held opinions of the best lunch spot nearby, this is the role for you
