Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in culinary field, with at least 1 year in pastry or bakery kitchen.
  • Food Handler Certificate for Alberta is required.
  • Actively working towards Journeyman’s papers or equivalent is an asset.

Job Description

Your passion for managing food preparation as First Cook, you will inspire your team to create truly spectacular fare.

What you will be doing:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and proactive guest service while supporting fellow Colleagues
  • Prepare and service all baked goods and dessert items for various meal periods (breakfast,
    lunch, dinner, coffee breaks) and functions (buffet or plated) according to hotel pastry recipes and standards
  • Actively contribute ideas, opinions, and suggestions during daily shiftbriefings to enhance pastry operations
  • Ensure proper rotation and storage of all pastry products in chillers to minimize wastage and spoilage
  • Maintain full knowledge of all dessert and baked menu items, including ingredients, presentation, and preparation methods
  • Ensure the cleanliness and maintenance of all pastry work areas, tools, and equipment
  • Follow kitchen policies, procedures, and service standards, with an emphasis on pastry production
  • Adhere to all safety and sanitation policies when handling food, particularly baked goods and
    confections
Qualifications

Your experience and skills include:

  • Previous experience, minimum of 3years experience in a similar setting in the Culinary field with at least 1 year of experience in a pastry or bakery kitchen is required
  • Food Handler Certificate Alberta is required
  • Actively working towards Journeyman’s papers or international equivalent is an asset
  • Diploma/Certification in a Culinary discipline an asset
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
