Role

The Distribution Discipline Lead is a key position at Rising Edge Group, responsible for overseeing and guiding a team of designers and engineers within the Distribution group, ensuring that all engineering projects are designed and implemented to meet the required standards and client expectations. This role requires strong technical expertise, leadership skills, and the ability to foster collaboration among team members while driving innovation and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of designers and engineers, providing direction, technical oversight, and support in their professional development
  • Ensure engineering projects adhere to industry standards, regulations, and client specifications throughout the project lifecycle
  • Collaborate with project managers to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables, aligning engineering efforts with overall project goals
  • Review and approve engineering designs, calculations, and specifications, ensuring accuracy and compliance with best practices
  • Facilitate regular team meetings to discuss project progress, challenges, and opportunities for improvement
  • Participate in client meetings and presentations to represent the engineering team and provide technical expertise
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement initiatives within the engineering discipline, promoting a culture of excellence
  • Act as a primary point of contact for technical inquiries related to your discipline, both internally and externally
  • Participate in the recruitment and onboarding process for new engineering team members as needed
  • Keep updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and advancements in engineering practices, sharing knowledge with the team
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Electrical Engineering and registered through APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng) or Professional Licensee Engineering (P.L. Eng) is a requirement
  • A minimum of 10 years of relevant engineering experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role
  • Demonstrated experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and projects
  • Strong technical knowledge in your specific engineering discipline and familiarity with industry standards and regulations
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Proficiency in engineering design software and tools related to your discipline
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering high-quality results on time
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, changing environment
  • PMP or other relevant project management qualifications are considered an asset
  • Willingness to travel as required to project sites and client meetings
