Corporate Actions and Income Processing Specialist Sr

Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings. You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement.

Role Overview

Reporting to the Team Manager, this role is a subject matter expert in all corporate actions, income, and Proxy events for securities held domestically and internationally, in multiple systems. This role requires the ability to research / solve complex issues, process mandatory and voluntary corporate actions, review tax consequences, analyze and complete legal documentation (i.e. escrows, tax reclaims), reduce exposure within the firm (i.e. depo alignment), process market claims, handle escalations, interact with clients, alleviate workload, provide relief to management, and maintain good working relationships with issuers, depositories, brokers / counterparties, etc.

What You Will Do
  • Perform and oversee department transactions such as ensuring accurate preparation and processing of corporate action events and entitlements payments (including voluntary events, mandatory events, income related payments and proxy) received from the paying agent or the depositories (local or foreign).
  • Process payments for Canadian securities (through depository or market). Includes processing physical certificate exchanges for privately held securities and preparing proxy (physical and electronic) to the end client.
  • Process complex / high risk transactions that require more touch points in multiple systems.
  • Assist in making sure all announcements pertaining to offers are correct. Research and adjust any discrepancies.
  • Act as point of contact for procedural and process questions.
  • Provide relief for management through assisting on reviewing and overseeing controls of the department to reduce / minimize risk to the firm (i.e., dual verification on tenders and notification sent to the front office).
  • Act as a subject matter expert through projects to improve efficiency and adapt to changing market standards within the firm; participate as a member within the firm or industry-wide committees.
  • Deliver stellar quality customer service interactions to internal and external customers (i.e. brokers / counterparties, Agents, Issuers) to exceed their expectations and create a positive experience.
  • Interact directly with clients (broker-dealers) and 3rd parties (agents, issuers, counterparties) verbally and in writing.
  • Follow policy and procedure changes to ensure proper controls are maintained.
  • Assist in creating procedures designed to strengthen quality and risk controls.
  • Monitor key control reports.
  • Participate as a project lead / member / SME for projects, initiatives and conversions related to the Entitlements Team.
The Experience You Bring
  • Completion of Post-Secondary Education, or Equivalent Experience.
  • More than 5 years of experience in securities / brokerage industry, ideally with a minimum of 3 years in corporate actions and entitlements processing including but not limited to tax and legal implications for the client.
  • Extensive knowledge of financial transaction processing, settlements, or corporate actions / income.
  • Concepts and techniques and reconciliation methodology and standards.
  • Knowledge and experience with Dataphile is an asset.
  • Completion or enrolment in the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) or the Investment Funds Institute of Canada (IFIC) course is an asset.
