Overview

Job Title: Class 1 Shunter - Team Lead Shunter
Schedule : Days, afternoons or nights
Salary : $28.00 to $32.00 Pending on experience.


We are looking for a skilled and motivated Lead Driver - Shunter to oversee and support our yard operations team. In this key role, you will drive, supervise, and mentor a team of shunters, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of units within the yard. You will play a vital role in maintaining safety standards, optimizing yard flow, and collaborating closely with internal teams to keep operations running smoothly.


Responsibilities


  • Coach and lead by example. Supervise, mentor, and motivate a team of shunters to ensure high performance and adhere to company safety standards.

  • Operate shunt truck to perform moves within the yard and operational support during peak periods

  • Ensure all yard operations comply with internal safety policies

  • Work closely with drivers and dispatchers to coordinate yard activities.

  • Participate actively in safety inspections, equipment checks, and investigations

  • Communication with Site Manager on a daily basis


Requirements


  • Valid Class 1 driver's license with 2 years' experience in a shunter or driver role

  • Prior experience in team supervision or leadership roles

  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and leadership skills.

  • Solid knowledge of transportation safety regulations and best practices.

  • Ability to work effectively in a high-paced, dynamic environment with multiple priorities.

  • Bilingual, self-motivated and safety minded
