HKA is working on behalf of Jacobs, and this role is to support Jacobs’ work through HKA.

This position will:

• Serve as subject matter expert (SME) of designs in the oil and gas and alternative fuels industries
• Oversee conceptual and detailed designs for diverse industries, with emphasis on the oil and gas alternative fuels industries
• Use best practices and industry knowledge to solve complex engineering problems
• Interface with other disciplines, project management, and the client to provide fully coordinated projects
• Perform quality reviews on designs performed by others
• Mentor junior engineers on basic engineering applications and principles
• Participate in the development of proposals, budgets, and schedules for process-specific work

Here’s what you’ll need:

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering
• At least 20 years of experience in engineering design in the oil and gas/alternative fuels industry is preferred
• Minimum 15 years of experience in engineering design as a facilities/plant engineer or as a consulting engineer

Ideally, you will also have:

• Working knowledge of ASPEN plus, ASPEN batch, and /or PRO/II
• Experienced user of Pipeflo (professional and compressible), AFT Fathom, and HTRI
• Experience with relief devices calculations, including complex cases
• Familiarity with unit operations including but not limited to distillation, evaporation, centrifugation, drying, solids handling and or specialty gas handling
• Experience as a functional lead for a team of multiple individuals
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Strong communication skills both verbal and written
• Forward thinking eager to learn best practice and contributing with innovative ideas
• Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
• Willing to travel
• Professional Engineering license in Louisiana is a plus
