SUMMARY

The Building Maintenance Technician IV - Refrigeration Apprentice or Journeyman CCQ is responsible for performing preventative and corrective maintenance, routine and on-demand services on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems for the assigned facility. The Technician IV ensures work is performed according to established processes and practices, complying with internal and external requirements including environmental, health and safety, and fire protection standards.

At this position level:

  • Performs preventative and corrective maintenance on facility mechanical and electrical equipment and systems.
  • Holds trades certification or license in one or more of the following - required:
  • Apprentice or Journeyman level Refrigeration (must be a member of the CCQ).

KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Performs work in accordance with established processes and practices, subject to legislative licensing requirements and company policy.
  • Ensures compliance with all environmental, health and safety, fire protection, and other relevant standards.
  • Conducts regular monitoring, inspection, preventative, and corrective maintenance of facility mechanical and electrical systems to meet uptime and asset integrity objectives.
  • Provides observations and recommendations for facility improvements and repairs.
  • Monitors facilities through walkthroughs and system inspections.
  • Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs mechanical and electrical building systems and equipment.
  • Responds to service requests, performing maintenance as needed.
  • Records and tracks work in the maintenance management database, ensuring quality and compliance.
  • Assists in implementing preventative maintenance programs and participates in related projects.
  • Ensures all work complies with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Maintains tools and manages expenditures responsibly.
  • Supports tenant and customer satisfaction through quality service delivery.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Work Requirements

  • Willingness to work shifts, be on-call, and respond to emergencies.
  • Ability and willingness to wear personal protective equipment.

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Over 1 year of facility operations and maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma plus trades training and certification or licensing.
  • Proficiency in facility operations, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledge of fire, safety, and building codes.
  • Safety-conscious with a strong environmental, health, and safety mindset.
  • Excellent communication and client-service skills; bilingualism is an asset.

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation

  • Apprentice or Journeyman level Refrigeration certification (must be a member of the CCQ).

Preferred additional certifications include:

  • Facilities Technician Certification
  • Systems Maintenance Technician or Administrator through BOMI.

Additional requirements:

  • Must meet enhanced security clearance requirements.
  • Valid driver’s license.
